Impulse Manufacturing Laboratory

The Impulse Manufacturing Laboratory (IML) is Professor Glenn Daehn's research group. It is part of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Ohio State University.

For nearly 30 years, IML's research has focused on the development of novel manufacturing solutions using impulse-based processes. We discovered that materials can be shaped and joined in unique ways by moving metals at high speeds.

Our vision is to be the driving force behind impulse metalworking and to deliver this technology to the world through collaborations with academic and industry leaders.
